Laureate Zeta had its August meeting at the home of Lea Stuart with 12 members present. Members enjoyed a salad supper prior to conducting business.

President Kay Martin led the Opening Ritual. Recording Secretary Linda Wheeler read July minutes. She distributed the 2011-12 yearbook sign-up sheets. She stressed yearbook changes be submitted now because the yearbook would be printed soon and presented at the September meeting.

In the absence of treasurer Annie Laura Breaux, no chapter balance report was presented. Kay Martin reminded members that the by-laws require Chapter Ways and Means fee of $25 and City Council dues of $10 be paid no later than the October meeting.

Get-well cards for Annie Laura and Jim Breaux were circulated among members for individual comments.

Cathy Norwood distributed to each member a 2010-11 Memory DVD and presented to Fleeta Millard the beautifully prepared Memory Book full of pictures, articles, programs and mementos depicting the many activities of the past sorority year.

A copy of the DVD and the Memory Book will be submitted for City Council judging purposes in September. Members praised Norwood for her creative dedication to keeping a pictorial record of the chapter activities.

Vice President Millard will continue to update all members concerning their new secret sisters’ personal information. She reminded everyone of two upcoming birthdays, Sue Ogle on Sept. 3, and Wheeler on Sept. 12. Three members will be celebrating anniversaries: Vicki Beaty, Aug. 10, Norwood, Aug. 11, and Judy Johnson, Sept. 6.

Verdonna Mikel presented information concerning Beginning Day, hosted by City Council at the Elks Lodge on Aug. 23. She will contact absent members via email concerning Beginning Day. Mikel will remind Kathy Quinnett of the Council meeting on Sept. 1 at the City Library.

Brenda Chambers suggested members attend the Boomers Expo with host Vicki Lawrence at the Chattanooga Convention Center on Aug. 27.

The next meeting will be in September at the home of Brenda Chambers with Vicki Beaty presenting the program.

Norwood presented a pictorial program reflecting back on all the activities and accomplishments of the chapter for the past 12 months.

The door prize was won by Doris Johnson and host Lea Stuart served a delicious dessert.

Other members attending were Brenda Eckard, Betty Eidson and Nancy Ogle.
