Clarence Hubert Wilson, 81, a resident of Cleveland, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday afternoon, March 21, 2013, in a Chattanooga hospital.
He was born in Athens on Sept. 9, 1931, a son of the late Doc Hubert and Arbie Benton Wilson. Although he was a native of McMinn County, he resided most of his life in Bradley County.
He was a well know plumber in the Cleveland and Bradley County area for many years. He was of the Baptist faith and known as a prayer warrior and man of faith by his family and friends. He gave back to his community and the Lord by driving the church bus for Faith Memorial Church for almost for 40 years. He was an avid outdoorsman and farmer, but will be most remembered for being a loving and devoted husband father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by one son, Gary Hubert Wilson; four sisters: Thelma Everrett, Lois Shelton, Ora Morrow and Lela Lewis; and two brothers: Roy Wilson and Chester “Check” Wilson.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory his loving wife of 58 years, Evelyn Marshall Wilson; two daughters: Debbie Eldredge and husband, Ed, of Cleveland, and Lisa Garr and husband, Tim, of Houston, Texas; two sons: Ricky Wilson and wife, Janie and Rodney Wilson, both of Cleveland; six grandchildren; one great-grandchild; several nieces and nephews, and numerous other extended family members and friends.
A celebration of his life is planned for Sunday, March 24, 2013, at 2 p.m. at Hopewell Baptist Church, 188 Old Georgetown Road NW, Cleveland TN with the Revs. Ed Eldredge, Zack Edlredge and Jimmy Lewis officiating.
Interment will follow in the Sunset Memorial Gardens with Zack Eldredge, Ben Eldredge, Justin Wilson, Tim Garr, Randall Marshall and Larry Green serving as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends Saturday from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the church and also one hour prior to the service on Sunday.
