Becky Wright, board member of the J.O.Y. School, was the featured speaker at the Cleveland Civitan Club this past Wednesday at the Mountain View Inn lunch meeting. J.O.Y. (Jesus first, Others second, Yourself last) is a nonprofit, non-denominational program for students ages 4 through 21 who have developmental disabilities. Wright gave the history of the Holtzclaw family who had two children with disabilities who helped start the schools when teachers realized the students had learning setbacks during summer break. J.O.Y.'s program assists these students in maintaining a classroom and physical activity curiculum to assist in knowledge retention. The club supports the summer program each year and presented the school with a $500 donation for 2013.
