Chuck Hanes of Shelbyville has joined the Don Ledford Automotive Center staff as general sales manager with more than 30 years experience in car dealership, banking and finance.

Prior to coming to Cleveland, Hanes was general manger of Team Chevrolet and was recognized with the GM Standards for Excellence for his development of management staff and customer satisfaction programs. He has served as general manger with Gary Mathews Auto Mall in Jackson, Andrews Cadillac in Brentwood, and also worked with both Chevrolet and GMC dealerships in the Nashville area.

Hanes is a graduate of GM University of Automotive Management, starting out his career as a certified Chevrolet technician. In the GM University, he was recognized as the “best in class” of 50 students in the Finance School. He is a member of GM Society of Sales Executives and with GMAC’s Associate of Finance and Insurance Professionals. He is a former board member of the Better Business Bureau and of the Board of the Boys & Girls Club.

Hanes and his wife Pam have three children: a son Hunter and twins Whitney and Taylor.

Debbie Melton, general manager/partner of Don Ledford Automotive Center, said the team is “pleased to have Chuck Hanes on board at a time when the dealership is expanding and growing like never before in its 30-year history.” The family-owned dealership just recently acquired the Chevrolet brand, adding to the existing GMC, Buick & Cadillac. Currently, a major construction project is underway at the dealership at 4595 N. Lee Hwy.

“We are fortunate to have a staff with a number of years experience in GM product and Chuck certainly will compliment them with his expertise, not only in sales, but in marketing, management and finance,” Melton said.

Melton said while in Jackson, Hanes had been active with numerous organizations, including the Carl Perkins Child Abuse Prevention Center, Jackson Exchange Club, Jackson Symphony, plus has been a leader and chaired United Cerebral Palsy campaigns through the years.
