RAW Art Dance and Entertainment Company, Bradley County’s first Christian dance studio, will have its grand opening Friday with tours, also, on Saturday. The grand opening and ribbon cutting will take place at 2509 N. Ocoee St., Suite A, from 6 to 8:30 p.m. on Friday. After the ribbon cutting, there will be a free dance class open for all ages. Food, drinks and specials would be given at the open house.
Dance classes will be under the direction of former Oral Roberts University Golden Eagle Dance Team member and national award winning choreographer, Danielle Farrell, who grew up in Cleveland.
Farrell said she believes dance is her God-given talent and wants to gives God the glory for her success and experiences. She has danced for Cleveland Middle School and Walker Valley High School, as well as in such venues as Walt Disney World and New York City.
“RAW stands for ‘Real Attitudes Win’ and is used to express a genuine aspect of dance as well as themselves knowing their uniqueness comes from The Lord whom lives within,” explained Farrell. “RAW portrays we are created by God for God, and we aren’t the image or creation of this world as it said in John 15:19,” she added.
According to Farrell, RAW Art Dance is an authentic, down-to-earth dance studio which plans to educate, enlighten and uplift Cleveland in dance and service. The studio will offer classes and training for children as well as adults — females and males. Classes range from hip-hop, jazz, ballet, contemporary/modern, lyrical, gymnastics and improvisation (self expression). RAW will offer services to dancers who seek professional training as well as dancers who dance for the fun of it. Open classes to the public are available to anyone — from age 2 upward.
“Christian entertainment needs to be delivered in a way that all ages and cultures can understand and relate — dance is a universal language that brings all together for good,” Farrell said. “Matthew 5:13 (KJV) says ‘Ye are the salt of the Earth,’ and verse 14 reads, ‘Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hid.’ RAW Art plans to add flavor and light to this world and city. Making a positive change is essential to RAW Art Dance.”
Farrell said she started RAW Art to help the youth express themselves with the voice of art with blending the message of the Gospel.
RAW Art Dance is a full blown entertainment center which will host in the community. The studio will be available for the general public to have celebrations and gatherings at the studio, including birthday, bridal shower, baby shower and community events.
On Nov. 2, RAW would host a spa day as well as a talent show with special performances by RAW Art Dance, Lee University Image Step team, and Cleveland Middle School.
Registration for this event would be held at the studio. For more information, email Farrell at Danielle_Farrell21@yahoo.com.
