Plans are underway for a children’s community chorus to be organized in the Southside neighborhood (in the old Blythe Elementary School area).

Children ages 6-11 are invited to gather at The Church of God, 1213 Chippewah Ave., on Nov. 30 at 1 p.m., to begin preparations for Christmas performances in the community, including nursing homes, retirement centers and other venues.

Parents may attend with the children or send a statement of permission for their child to be a part of the chorus. There is no cost to participate.

The children will be taught and led by Shanna Weekes, Spanish translator, singer and musician, assisted by Bettie Marlowe.

Eleven-year-old Quentin Scott, who sang for the state Legislature and already performs at many meetings, clubs and churches, will be working with the chorus, also.

If transportation is needed, call 472-1623 or 284-8321 on Saturday morning, Nov. 30, between 9 a.m. and noon.
