Carl James Tyson, 70, of Cleveland, passed away, Wednesday, Aug. 14, 2013, surrounded by his family.

His sunrise was on Oct. 19, 1942, in Osage City, Kan., and his sunset occurred on Wednesday, Aug. 14, 2013, in Cleveland.

He was a veteran, serving his country in the Vietnam War.

He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Susan Tyson; he was a loving dad to John (Susie) Ritchie of Ohio, Kimberly (Gary) Day, Charles (Jennifer) Tyson, and Timothy (Bridget) Tyson, all of Cleveland.

He was preceded in death by his mother and father; four brothers; two brothers-in-law; five sisters; and one sister-in-law; he also leaves behind to cherish his memory one sister-in-law, Mary Helzer of Mich.; brother-in-law, Gene (Kathy) Caverly; he was loving “Papa” to 17 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; he was also uncle to 10 nieces; and 21 nephews. He will be dearly missed and loved always.

The family will receive friends at Kinser Church of God, 141 Kinser Road SE, Saturday, Aug.17, 2013, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. with a service following visitation at the church. The Rev. Guinn E. Green will be officiating.
