The Lady Cougars wasted no time as they controlled the game from start to finish on their way to notching a big 71-31 win over the Lady Buffaloes.
"The girls did a great job early in the game," stated Lady Cougar coach Dan Lumpkin. "We worked on some things, everyone played and contributed and it was a good win on the road after a long road trip. The scoring was pretty even and we played hard and didn't let up."
Jamesha Mosley got the visitors off and running, pouring in 10 of her game-high 16 points in the first half. Jasmin Fuqua added seven first-half points, including one shot from downtown while Kaitlyn Davis and Jara Gasper also connected from behind the arc to help the Lady Cougars to a 39-12 halftime advantage.
Aysia Grimsley, Katrice Harris and Tre'Ketta Bonds, along with Brandi Whitted and Brittany Ramsey, all dented the scoring column in the second half as the Lady Cougars (7-1) cruised to the win.
After Mosley's 16 points, Gasper and Harris were next with 10 points apiece, Fuqua and Ramsey finished with eight each and Grimsley added six. Allison Atha paced the Lady Buffaloes with nine points while Hannah Morgan had seven and Catelyn Radeck added six.
Both Cleveland State basketball squads will hit the road for Middle Tennessee on Friday with a trip to Motlow State and then Saturday afternoon with another big Region VII Conference showdown at Volunteer State.
