The Cleveland Middle School Lady Raiders faced Spring City Monday night in their first home match of the season. Unforced errors hurt the eighth-grade team in the first set in a 27-25 loss, but the Cleveland girls came back strong in the next two sets, winning 25-16, 15-8.
Key players included Lauren Lee with two aces, 12 digs, six kills, and nine assists; Emma Flowers with seven aces, nine digs, six kills, and seven assists; Amber Morman with nine kills and a block; Morgan Moffett with seven digs and three kills; Sammie-Kate Eason with 12 digs and two kills; Regan Fuller with 11 digs; and Sophia Lakatosh with five digs.
The Lady Raiders overall record is 4-0.
The junior varsity won their its match as well pulling out with set scores of 25-7 and 25-16.
Aly Grace Lemons led the team from the service line with 10 aces for the night, along with two kills and three assists. Emma Flowers contributed three aces, four digs, one kill, and three assists. Other key players included Julia Holt-Ledford and Rheagan Hall with three kills, and Lauren Langford with two kills.
The junior varsity record is 3-1 overall.
The CMS sixth-, seventh, and eighth-grade teams will travel to Baylor today with games at 4:30, 5:30, and 6:30 p.m.
