Cleveland Christian hosted Collegedale Academy’s Collegedale Adventist Youth in Action in SCAA volleyball action Tuesday night. CAYA took an early lead with a 25-12 win in game one, and went on to make quick work of the Lady Crusaders, taking game two, 25-21. In game three, the Lady Crusaders squandered a 14-3 lead and eventually lost 25-21.

“It was a sloppy evening to say the least. We had moments where the girls communicated well. We had good, quality serves in game three from Acacia Thompson and Jennifer Corbitt, but too many mistakes tonight,” coach John Mathis remarked after the game. “This was probably one of the better teams in the conference, but we could have easily taken game three. I’m disappointed but we have some time to work before we play Friday.”

Thompson led the offense with three kills, three aces and three digs. Hope Nix had a good night setting, with four assists. Corbitt had a block and six aces. Savannah Morgan had a dig and an ace. Emily Sexton had two aces.

CCS travels to Chattanooga Friday to play the Chattanooga Patriots in nonconference play. The Middle School makes the first serve at 6 p.m. with the varsity playing immediately after.
