“Good Morning Chattanooga” anchor/producer Sarah Jennings of NewsChannel 9 will emcee the gala which is one of CASA of Bradley County’s premiere events.
“There’s No Place Like Home,” is the red shoe theme that represents Dorothy’s shoes in the “Wizard of Oz” and their role in the journey to find her way home, according to Suzanne Wisdom, executive director of CASA, or Court Appointed Special Advocates.
“The mission of CASA is to find safe, permanent homes for children in need by training and supporting community volunteers,” Wisdom said. Donations help to continue recruiting, training and supervising volunteers who are advocates for the best interests of children who come to the attention of the Bradley County court system due to abuse or neglect.
CASA has now expanded operations to aid children in Polk County and Ocoee Regional Family Advocates is the official name for the venture.
This year’s Red Shoe Party will begin at 6 p.m. at the Old Woolen Mill. The fundraiser will feature a silent auction, live music early and a DJ later, a cash bar, and food.
AlShabibi Catering is providing food for the event.
Keeping with the red shoe theme, attendees are encouraged to wear red shoes to the event, and the best red shoes of the evening in several categories will be selected by fun local personalities in the annual Red Shoe Contest.
“We expect the Red Shoe Gala will be a fun night and a great way for the community to show support for CASA,” said Wisdom. “We can make a real difference in the lives of children at risk, and statistics show that children who have access to a special advocate are less likely to languish in long-term care and more likely to receive the services they need to thrive in a safe, permanent home.”
Wisdom said auction items such as a cruise-for-two have been donated to the cause. Hundreds of other items have also been donated for the silent auction.
Shoe judges will be Criminal Court Judge Amy Reedy and assistant District Attorney General Bill Reedy, and attorneys Matt and Sarah Coleman.
Categories for the Red Shoe contest include Sassiest, Funniest, Most Original and Most Daring, according to Wisdom. Corporate or community sponsorships are available.
