Broad Street United Methodist Hospitality Team is an outgrowth of the commitment from Pastors Randy Martin and William “Skip” White to proactively have Broad Street reach out to the community by inviting, welcoming and connecting with each other and connecting with God. Members of Broad Street UMC have joined together to carry out a part of this mission by serving as greeters at all four services at all church entrances and parking areas. At an organizational gathering late last year, one of the volunteers introduced the “green coat” concept whereby the greeters would all wear green blazers to help regular members as well as visitors identify the volunteers specifically available at any given service to render aid and assistance to those in need. The “Green Coats” look forward to welcoming visitors and members each Sunday morning answering questions, directing them to the appropriate Sunday School classes and/or services and reaffirming that all are welcome. There are four Sunday morning worship services at Broad Street UMC: 8:45 a.m. and 10:45 a.m., Contemporary Worship, and 8:30 a.m. and 10:45 a.m., Traditional Worship.
