During his 14 weeks of initial entry training, he completed tasks and became proficient in the skills needed to become a U.S. Army infantry soldier.
He completed basic rifle marksmanship, hand grenade, first aid, land navigation, modern Army combatives and urban operations, to list just a few.
While at training, Blackburn received recognition for scoring 294 points on the Army physical fitness test and was selected as honor graduate for 1st Platoon F Company 2/58th Infantry for dedication to duty, commitment to excellence and superior infantry skills.
Blackburn graduated Feb. 21. He was awarded the Tennessee National Guard Commendation Ribbon. He will be assigned to Troop F 2nd Squadron 278th Armored Cavalry Regiment in McMinnville.
