In 1997, when Maryl Elliott was leaving her place on Cleveland’s Shade Tree Board, she asked if I would be interested in serving.

My answer was, yes, and I have been an enthusiastic member of the board since that time.

I am passionate about preserving our existing trees, planting new ones wherever possible, and promoting appropriate care and pruning, all of which benefit the entire City of Cleveland.

Since becoming a member of the “Tree Board,” our many accomplishments have benefitted the City Of Cleveland. We have established a memorial tree program; enacted a tree ordinance; placed markers at designated historic trees; planted hundreds of trees, including the beautiful median on 25th Street; and most recently, held “The Big Old Tree” contest.

As a member of the Cleveland Shade Tree Board, I am very proud of our accomplishments.
