Baylor Lady Raiders topple the Lady Mustangs

CHATTANOOGA — Walker Valley fell victim to a volleyball pillaging by the Baylor Lady Red Raiders Tuesday evening, as the Lady Mustangs dropped three straight sets.

The Lady Mustangs lost 25-9, 25-13 and a closer game of 25-21.

Madison Pruett had one ace, one block, five kills, 11 digs and 13 receptions, while Abby Campbell had nine assists, one kill, and seven digs.

Katelin Scoggins had 10 digs and six receptions and Ashlyn Flock had six assists and eight digs.

Nikki Prugh had one kill, four digs and nine receptions for the night, with Rachel Lawhown getting three blocks and five kills.

Alex Rominger had one ace, four digs and three receptions during the games.

The tables were turned when it came to the junior varsity, though, with the Lady Mustangs taking both games played by consecutive scores of 25-19.

Alexan Crittenden had three aces, nine assists and six kills, while Sara Wilson had two aces, one assist, two kills, five digs and three receptions.

Scoggins recorded one ace, eight digs and one reception for the night, with Abbi Mason getting three kills, one dig and five receptions of her own.

Mikayla Lumpkin had two aces, one block, two kills and a reception.

Over the weekend the Lady Mustangs traveled to Oak Ridge and Farragut to compete in the 28-team Early Bird Tournament.

Out of the seven teams they played, Walker Valley came out with three victories.

The Lady Mustangs defeated Grace Academy 25-12 and 25-21 and King’s Academy 25-14 and 25-16

After splitting their first two games, a 25-20 win and a 25-12 loss, with Knox Catholic, Walker Valley bested the Fighting Irish in the third game 15-12.

Pruett had seven aces, four blocks, 39 kills, 31 digs and 35 receptions for the weekend, while Campbell had eight aces, 45 assists, eight kills, 33 digs and three receptions.

Alex Rominger had two aces, two kills, 54 digs and 34 receptions and Ashlyn Flock had eight aces, 28 assists, one block, nine kills and 42 digs.

Scoggins had one ace, a kill, 31 digs and 22 receptions, with Prugh getting four aces, 14 kills, 17 digs and 15 receptions.

The Lady Mustangs will host Cleveland on Thursday, with the varsity match beginning at 6:15 p.m.
