— An Adult Book Club for ages 18 and older is being formed at the Cleveland Bradley County Public Library, and will meet the third Wednesday of each month at 2 p.m. in the Carmichael House Conference Room. Call the library if you are interested in attending the Adult Book Club or for additional information.

— A seminar on weight-loss surgery will be conducted by Dr. Jack Rutledge, director of the Metabolic Surgery Center at Memorial Hospital, on May 13 at 6 p.m. in the Carmichael House Conference Room. Call the Non-fiction Desk to reserve your seat.

— Teen Book Talk will be Tuesday at 4:30 p.m. in the Teen Zone with discussion on “Maximum Ride: The Angel Experiment” by James Patterson. Tween Book Chatter will be at 4:30 p.m. in the Children’s Activity Room. Book discussion will be on the book “Thea Stilton & the Dragon Code” by G. Stilton.

— Tween Movie Matinee on May 3 will be a Percy Jackson double feature, “The Lightning Thief” and “Sea of Monsters.”

AT The Salvation Army:

— Character Building Class providing an after-school program for school-age children meets each Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. at The Salvation Army, 437 Inman St. The class includes meaningful opportunities for learning, social activities, creative arts and spiritual growth. Children also receive a nutritious snack.

— Learn new quilting techniques and make new friends in the free “Undercover” quilting class.The six-week class will meet each Tuesday at 6 p.m. at The Salvation Army, 437 Inman St. For more information on these programs, call 308-3467.


— Join the Faith & Fitness Zumba class which meets each week at The Salvation Army on Tuesday at 5:30 p.m., Thursday at 6 a.m. and Thursday at noon. Each class is one hour in length. The licensed instructor is Regina Williams. Bring a friend and check out new songs and new dances that are easy and fun to learn. For more information, call 310-9557.

— Zumba will begin at the library each Tuesday and Thursday morning at 8:10 a.m., beginning Tuesday and continuing until May 29. This class will be limited to 25, and reservations are required. These classes are free to the first 25 patrons who sign up. Contact the library at 472-2163 or stop by the Non-Fiction Desk to reserve your spot.

— TOPS (Take Off Pounds Sensibly) local chapter meets every Monday at Wesleyan Methodist Church on Peerless Road. Private weigh-ins are from 5 to 5:30 p.m. and the meeting is from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. A TOPS category for children ages 7-18 is available. For more information, call 472-9628 or 593-4727.
