The Bradley County Sheriff’s Office released information today warning local residents of a work-at-home opportunity that has been found to involve stolen property.

An advertisement offers compensation for individuals to work from home receiving packages, repackaging the merchandise, usually from major retail companies and sending the packages to Russia. Compensation is offered for any expenses and for time involved.

What the advertisement does not say is that the merchandise could be stolen property.

BCSO said “the items they are sending out of the country can be stolen property or was acquired with stolen credit cards.”

The ad has appeared in newspapers throughout the country and on Craigslist. It is unknown if anyone has responded locally to the advertisement.

According to a BCSO press release, responding to the ad could lead to legal trouble for being in possession on stolen property

If the property is worth more than $500, then the individual would be facing felony charges.
