For the ninth consecutive year, Ace Hardware of Cleveland will donate proceeds from its Labor Day weekend sale to United Way of Bradley County.

The sale begins on Friday and goes through Monday. During the sale, Ace Hardware of Cleveland will donate to the United Way of Bradley County 5 cents of every $1 spent at the store by Ace Rewards customers.

“Ace Hardware is such a great community supporter, and for the past nine years, has been very involved with our United Way through this Labor Day event,” said Matt Ryerson, United Way president and CEO.

United Way will use the funds to support its agencies, programs and services that help thousands each year in the local community.

United Way volunteer Nancy Casson has worked closely with the Cleveland Ace Hardware team over these nine years, and is appreciative of the community spirit she sees in the employees there.

“I always enjoy my visits to Ace Hardware,” Casson said. “The people there are so friendly and so accommodating when I need assistance. I know from working with them through this promotion that they are also very caring.”

Ace Hardware not only conducts this special sale to benefit United Way, but has an internal employee campaign as well.

“This is our community, and we want to help where we can,” said Randall Slack, Ace Hardware of Cleveland store manager. “Our Labor Day sale to benefit United Way is one way that we give back to the community that supports us.”

With that in mind, Ace Hardware always has special deals over the Labor Day holiday. Slack and Casson called it a timely opportunity to pick up items for those late-summer projects, or even for fall and the winter months ahead.

“You are not only helping recipients of United Way services, but also helping your pocketbook by saving money,” Casson said.

United Way receives the donation from Ace Hardware from purchases made by customers with Ace Rewards cards. Those who do not have a card can sign up today or anytime during the sale. It is free, and users will be helping United Way, as well as earning points toward an Ace Reward Certificate in the process.

“The sale items are well worth coming to Ace Hardware for, so don’t just come for one or two things, but make this your whole shopping list: garbage bags, light bulbs, paint and all the items that you are going to need for fall cleanup — your rake, your shovel … come on in to Ace Hardware Friday, Saturday, Sunday or Monday,” Casson said. “It may not seem like fall now, but it is coming, and you will need some of these items, so come help yourself and help your community.”

Ace Hardware is located at 990 25th St. N.W., at the intersection of 25th Street and Peerless Road. Store hours for the Labor Day weekend are 7:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday; noon to 6 p.m. Sunday; and 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Monday.
