Saskova wins tennis title

Day two of the District 5-AAA tennis tournament at Lee University proved a successful one for a number of local tennis players.

In girls’ singles competition, Bradley Central’s Katarina Saskova defeated Cleveland’s Heidi Barringer 6-0 and 6-1 in the semifinals and then won the championship after defeating East Hamilton’s Hanna Dattilo 6-3, 3-6 and 6-4.

Cleveland’s boys’ doubles team of Jake Gibson and Brandon Williams defeated Ooltewah’s Braden Lype and Kyle Mohusen in straight sets, 6-1 and 6-0, to win the championship.

In the boys’ singles semifinals, Cleveland’s Vereen Patel was defeated by Baily Lenoir in straight sets, 6-1 and 6-1. Blue Raider Adam Klibisz was defeated by McMinn County’s Cody Esparza 6-2 and 6-3.

In girls’ doubles competition, Walker Valley’s duo of Rachel Tarver and Reed Jones lost to Soddy-Daisy’s Cloe Mitchell and Abigail Ellis 4-6, 6-1 and 6-1 in the semifinals.
