The Athens Community Theatre will reprise the popular musical production of “Always ... Patsy Cline” by Ted Swindley Aug. 3-4 at The Clayton Center for the Arts in Maryville. After remarkable success at The Arts Center, the musical is being presented as one of the five shows in the Clayton Center’s third annual Community Theatre Festival.
“Always ... Patsy Cline” is based on the true story of Patsy Cline’s friendship with Houston housewife Louise Segar. Louise befriended the star in a honky tonk in 1961 and continued a correspondence with Patsy for the rest of her life. The musical play, complete with down-home country humor and true emotion, includes 27 of Cline’s unforgettable hits, such as “Crazy,” “I Fall to Pieces,” “Sweet Dreams” and “Walking After Midnight.”
Melonie Carideo shines as Patsy Cline, and Kendra Johnson stars as Louise. Playing in the live band featured on stage are David Ledbetter, piano; Matt Dannel, drums; Andrew Kimball, lead guitar; Bill Paisley, steel pedal guitar; Joe Littleton, bass guitar; and Amanda Thomas, fiddle. The musical is directed by Ellen Kimball.
