The victim of a theft helped effect an arrest of the suspect and the recovery of his property.

According to Bob Gault, media relations coordinator for the Bradley County Sheriff’s Office, Gary Wayne Randolph, 54, was charged in the theft.

“After finding two trailers at an Old Tasso Road storage facility had been entered, the victim of the theft posted descriptions of the stolen property on Facebook along with an offer of a reward for information. That brought a response from a Cleveland pawnbroker, where some of the items were sold,” Gault said.

The victim in the case reportedly identified items which had been taken, then contacted BCSO’s Criminal Investigations Division.

The list of property that had been taken from the storage trailers between Aug. 13-23 consisted of tools, silver bullion, coins, an air compressor and antiques, according to reports. The total value of the items was placed at $30,000.

Investigators used pawn shop records and detectives identified Randolph as the person who sold those items to the pawn shop.

Randolph was arrested and charged with theft over $10,000 and two counts of burglary, according to Gault.

Gault also said approximately half of the property has been recovered.

- An assortment of construction equipment was reportedly stolen from trailer storage at a Twin Creeks Drive.

D&S Custom Homes reported the theft.

A detailed report will be available later concerning the types of tools taken from the site.

According to Gault, the equipment was valued at $20,000.

Investigation is continuing.
