William "Hoyt" Ownby, age 88, a resident of Cleveland, passed away Thursday morning, March 25, 2020 in a Chattanooga health care facility. Mr. Ownby was born in Bradley County and he was the son of the late Ada Armstrong Ownby and William Taft Ownby. His son in law, Dennis Boring and his brother in law, Gilbert Hawkins also preceded him in death. Mr. Ownby owned and operated Hoyt Ownby Wrecker Mounting for many years. He also enjoyed raising cattle on his farm. He enjoyed gospel singing and he always witnessed for the Lord. He loved spending time with his family. Mr. Ownby attended the Echoes of Mercy Baptist Church and he was a veteran of the United States Army serving in Korea. more

Doris Smith age 90, of Cleveland, departed this life on Thursday morning, March 26, 2020 at her home. Born on December 15, 1929 in Blue Ridge, Georgia to the late Ross and Opal Frazier Collette, she had lived a majority of her life in Bradley County and was a longtime member of Ridgeview Baptist Church. Harold “Freddy” Catlett, 58, died February 26, 2020, in a local hospital. He was born August 22, 1961 at Bradley Memorial Hospital. He was retired from the heating and air/plumbing business. He finished school early to go to work alongside his dad “CAT” at Chase Appliance. He also had worked at Duracell. He was of the Baptist faith. more
